May 24, 2019

The National Safety Council has estimated there will be 380 lost lives and 43,300 injuries on the nationals highways and byways in 2019. Here are some tips for commercial drivers on the job over the Memorial Holiday.
Driving Tips
- High Risk Time/Congestion: The greatest risk for accidents is Friday afternoon on Memorial Day weekend, when most people are leaving work and getting ready to enjoy the weekend. If you have to drive, anticipate the congestion.
- Don't Drive Drowsy: Avoid drowsy driving by getting plenty of rest before driving. Remember, rising temperatures can make you extra drowsy. Our RVS-335 iVue Driver Fatigue System alerts drivers upon detecting drowsiness.
- Distracted Drivers: Not driving distracted is a no-brainer, but what about when you see a distracted driver? The best thing to do if when you spot a distracted driver is to move away from them as soon as possible and remain a safe distance away.
- Impaired Motorists: As with all holidays, there will be people who overindulge on a weekend holiday and get behind the wheel. Warning signs include drivers who repeatedly veer out of their lane, are driving under the speed limit, or incorrectly signaling. Steer clear of these drivers, and alert the authorities if you are able to do so in a safe manner.
