Lowest Gas Prices In Over A Decade: Get Outside!
This summer is the perfect time for a long road trip, and not just because you have a new RV. According to AAA, gas prices are the lowest they’ve been since 2004. The drop is due to declining crude oil costs and abundant fuel suppliers.
Average gas prices are below $2 (2 dollars!) a gallon in seven states, including: Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and South Carolina. In the entire United States around 1 in 4 gas stations are selling gas for less than $2 a gallon. Baring large unexpected events, such as a natural disaster or a distributor issue, it looks like this cost will remain low the rest of the summer.

This is a pretty diverse list. Route 1 features gorgeous mountain scenery and the Pacific Ocean, passing Monterey Peninsula from Pacific Grove to Carmel. Route 12 stretches from Capitol Reef National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, going by both forested and bald mountains. Maybe Montana is more your style, well look no further than the Sun Road. This trip takes you through Glacier National Park. You’ll see mountain peaks, snow, and follow the Continental Divide in the Rockies.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are driving through and camping in the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills. This enchanting, sweeping, tall grass prairie was always a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of city life in Topeka. Ok, Topeka, KS isn’t exactly New York City, but it was nice to be able to see the stars in a quiet night sky on a warm summer night.
