An Alarming Trend
There’s a strange new trend. I’m not talking about the latest fashion accessory, social app, or hair style. This is something a lot more alarming. Pedestrians and cyclists are intentionally staging crashes to collect on insurance fraud. Not only is this very dangerous, it’s costing you a fortune. According to the U.S. Coalition Against Fraud, over $80 billion in fraudulent claims are made every year. All of these claims are not from staged crashes, but still, that’s a lot of hard earned money leaving your pocket. Fortunately, there is a simple way you can protect yourself from this unfortunately phenomenon.

An easy solution to this problem is installing a dash camera. These devices mount to your vehicle’s windshield and record everything seen out the front of the car. The footage can be used as evidence if you are the victim of a staged crash like the one above. However, the benefits of a dash camera don’t end with just stopping insurance fraud. Dash cameras can also be used to dispute traffic tickets or record a family road trip. Save all the priceless moments on your trip and relive them after you return home. Rear View Safety offers a wide variety of dash cameras with many different options and features designed to fit your specific needs. Here are a few of my favorites.
The RVS-400C Compact HD Dash Camera is a basic dash camera that’s loaded with features. The compact camera is virtually invisible after installation, records in full 1080P HD with a 120° viewing angle and has full night vision. A built-in G-Sensor detects any impact and actives a special Event Mode. Footage in Event mode cannot be written over, so you won’t have to worry about losing any important footage. Loop recording ensures you won’t ever run out storage space. When the storage is full, the camera seamlessly loops over the oldest footage.
The LK-9390 Dual Lens Dash Camera With GPS and ADAS comes with built-in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which provides a host of safety features together with its full HD video recording. These features include a forward collision avoidance system as well as a lane departure warning system which help decrease road accidents. Both the front and rear cameras record in full HD and each record onto an SD card with a 512GB capacity. This gives you over a terabyte of total recording capabilities! Camera also comes with a 3.5" touch screen display to navigate easily through the camera settings.
No matter the style you choose, it’s clear that a dash camera is essential in any vehicle. The benefits are multi-fold, whether it’s using it for insurance purposes, traffic tickets, or just to relive a wonderful road trip. Be sure to stay safe this summer!
