The rear view cameras are worth every cent of the investment put in. As you well know, backing maneuvers are very dangerous due to very limited rear visibility the operator has. Beside the safety procedures that the operator has to follow in executing such maneuver, we always emphasized to our drivers to avoid backing maneuvers if at all possible, However, if the maneuver can not be avoided then the operator must exit the bus and survey the area he/she needs to back into to ensure safety in all areas of concern. With the use of rear cameras, we have made a tremendous improvement in backing incidents prevention. I am hoping that our entire bus fleet will one day be outfitted with rear view camera.
