Rear View Safety

An unfortunate kid was innocently walking home after a long day at school. The route the boy had decided to take home was along the main road, where it is not uncommon for trucks to dock and unload their goods. The boy, oblivious to the truck driver getting into the helm of the truck and starting the engine, joyfully walked along. The driver, who had failed to notice the young boy walking by, looked into his mirrors and saw a clear path in which he could back into. The driver didn’t even know it until he saw people crying and pointing to a large object lying next to his rear wheel.

These are the stories that people shake their heads after and just think what could have been. As painful as it is to think about, these accidents could very easily be avoided. A simple camera latched onto the back of a truck would show a driver all he would need to see.

Joseph and Gila Schechter are the proud parents of two kids. They are good parents and care very much about their children’s safety. When Joseph and Gila heard of these horrifying stories, they right away thought about the safety of their two kids. They decided to educate the public by letting them know of such occurrences, and that they can easily be avoided. They found Kids and Cars, a group that is committed to raising awareness about the dangers that kids face in and around cars, and joined in their campaign.

Thinking of how else they can help to avoid such accidents, they decided to use their business connections and manufacture an affordable rear view camera system. The camera connects to the rear of the vehicle, giving the driver a clear view of the blind spots behind him. Their goal is to get a rear view camera on all trucks, busses, vans, and cars that have their rear view windows obstructed. In doing this, they hope they can prevent such tragedies from recurring.
